Vegan seafood salads with oyster mushrooms
Oyster mushrooms are real all-rounders. Grown locally and suitable for vertical cultivation, they don’t take up much in the way of agricultural land. They also feed on food leftovers from cafés and breweries, consuming less resources and producing considerably less emissions than other foods. The traditional Belgian company is charting new territory by opting to use oyster mushrooms as the basis of all BonMush products – and we’re on board!
Out of tradition comes progress
About 130 years ago, a butcher, wife and mother of two children founded a company that is now in the hands of the family’s fifth generation: Belgium’s famous BonRill. About a century later, another modern woman is in the process of turning the traditional butcher’s into a vegan-centric company: the wife of the founder’s great-grandson. She started the transformation in 2020, using century-old knowledge to create products that meet high standards in quality and taste – without any meat whatsoever. BonMush heralds the start a new success story, one that's reading the signs of the times.
